From the Desk of Lady Cellica Whitewind,
Research and Development (R&D) is the primary field of study for Whitewind Researchers. Oftentimes, when a topic comes up within the Company, Researchers take to the topic and research it extensively. You would search for cause-and-effect and potential impact on others, and develop solutions based on the discoveries made.
Quality Assurance (QA) is when a Researcher takes a closer examination at goods and products either delivered to or created within the Whitewind Company and ascertain their quality, hence Quality Assurance. Very self-explanatory, but the methodology behind QA is meticulous. You are to ensure a good or product is up to code in terms of physical dimensions, dimensional deviance, magical dimensions, magical deviance, and so on and so forth.
System Maintenance (SM) is another self-explanatory item of study; Researchers are often tasked to ensure that Whitewind Company's equipment runs smoothly and without much issue. When problems arise, they are tasked with either fixing the problem themselves or outsourcing the problem to a trusted source, depending on what the Researcher is trained with and knows how to do. Systems are not always technological in nature; some are magical systems of complex matrices of leylines or whatnot, for instance.
Intelligence Gathering (IG) is when Researchers collaborate alongside other members of the Company (usually Freelancers) and gather the appropriate intel those members need in order to carry out their own tasks. Such things might include topographic data, known weather patterns, enemy movements, known ship traffic, and so on and so forth.
Cataloguing and Categorizing (CC) is another field of study that is simple and to the point: catalogue all relevant intelligence gathered and categorize materials appropriately. While this document will not go over the methods for CC, one thing that will be noted is that, unless otherwise noted, most things in CC will require certain levels of clearance. Researchers only release information on a need-to-know basis, and often only after ensuring that the intelligence and materials requested are sufficient and absolutely necessary.
Of course, a Researcher's roles are subject to change depending on the overall environment. Being flexible and well-rounded is a key component of being a Whitewind Researcher.
Researchers are a pivotal driving force of the Whitewind Company. Their knowledge and research methodologies assist the company in making safer, well-informed decisions, and their responsibilities are as follows:
- Research and Development
- Quality Assurance
- System Maintenance
- Intelligence Gathering
- Cataloging and Categorizing

If you think that being a Researcher best fits you, consider the following desirable traits:
- Critical Thinking - being able to think and act through careful consideration. Critical reading, writing, and speaking skills are appreciated.
- Cooperative and Flexible - being willing and able to work alongside others to reach a goal as part of a team, at times, or alone, at others.
- Well-traveled - being an individual ready - and willing - to travel the ends of Azeroth and beyond for experiments and intelligence gathering.
